My best friend and I met at a very young age. She was a year old and I was 12. Over the years she has taught me so much. She was my best friend. She new every secret I ever had. When I was upset she was always there. I would go out to the field and she would always greet me with those big ol' eyes. She would lay her head across my shoulder and give a squeeze as to say its OK now, I am here.
She always went above and beyond what I asked her. She was always willing to please. That seemed to be her goal in life. My kids all learned to ride her. I never had to worry about my babies going out there with her. She was a grand old horse.
MD accomplished many things that she will never get credit for. She was a teacher. Not only did she teach me but my kids. She was an all around horse. She did trail riding, barrels, Poles, flags, key hole race, figure 8 and Goat tying. She was a great mother she had 4 foals in her life time, MD's Spottie Magic, MD's Spottie Gambit, MDs Bratty Mac and MD's Tonka Illusion.
Today after being together 17 years and 3 months she gave up her fight of pneumonia. She was doing better but today she couldn't do it anymore. While I was standing there with her she fought and fought. I went to get the kids while my brother in law and his girlfriend stayed with her. I wanted them to tell her good bye. She was loved by so many kids 10 of them got to say good bye. As the last of us got to her she took her last breath and she was gone. I don't know what I am going to do know. I am just totally lost.
I know she was only given to me for a short time. I just didn't expect it to be this short and not this way. I am so thankful the good Lord allowed me to have her. Her time on earth was short but she had done what she was sent here to do. She was a one of a kind. I know that some day when it is my time I will see her again. It comforts me to know that she is not hurting anymore. I am sure she is in a big green pasture with her son and friends that have past.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY BEST FRIEND SHE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL
This picture was taken 2 days before she passed. With my 4 year old son feeding her some treats.

God has gained a wonderful horse for his great pasture.

The first picture was MD at 16 years old after a full night of events.
The second picture was taken at the 4th of July parade in 2005 just before she got sick. Next to her is her colt Tonka. These are a couple of the very few pictures I have of the two of us together.
Katie(4) doing barrels for the first time on MD.

GOOD BYE MY FRIEND UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.........
